2026.2 Series Release Notes

21.1.0-5

Bug Fixes

  • Build DIB deployment images with debian-minimal instead of debian. The debian element installs cloud-init, which can race with simple-init/glean and leave the instance on a DHCP address instead of the configdrive static IP. The openssh-server element is now added explicitly to the deploy image since debian-minimal does not include it. IPA ramdisks are unchanged. To keep the previous image, set dib_os_element to debian.

21.1.0

Bug Fixes

  • Fixes SELinux policy that prevented TLS from working on CentOS 10.

Other Notes

  • The version of cirros used by default is now 0.6.3 (instead of 0.5.3).

21.0.0

Upgrade Notes

  • Ubuntu 22.04 “Jammy” is no longer a supported operating system for running Bifrost. Please use 24.04 “Noble” instead.

  • The default Ubuntu deployment image release is now Noble. If you rely on the upstream deploy image defaults with upstream_deploy_image_distribution: ubuntu, update any explicit upstream_deploy_image_release overrides that were set to jammy.

  • Drops support for Ironic Staging Drivers. They have not been maintained for a long time.
